The Dental Assistant program at Vatterott College can prepare you to become an indispensable member of a dental team in private offices or clinics. You will start out by learning the basics of dental assisting. This includes oral structures, disease transmissions, and diet therapy. You will then learn how to perform chairside assistance. You will become familiar with equipment and instruments, sterilization and disinfection, and operative procedures.
You will also acquire skills in dental radiography, such as film processing, interpretation, and analysis. A final portion of the program covers office procedures. You will learn how to handle an emergency, schedule patients, and manage records and inventory. You can take all of the skills and knowledge you acquire and apply it in a 10-week externship. This will give you solid experience that will help you start your career with confidence! |
