Dental Assistants are in high demand and job opportunities for qualified professionals should be very good in the coming years. The US Department of Labor expects the field to grow 29% between 2006 and 2016. UMA offers a 720-hour, short-term training program to prepare students to meet this need.
Students learn how to perform routine cleanings, support dentists during advanced procedures, maintain instruments and equipment, prepare patients for treatment and manage the day-to-day operations of a dental practice. The program also includes in-demand expanded functions such as dental radiology (x-ray), sealant placement, and maintenance of removable dental work.
The program can be completed in 7 to 12 months. Students begin with in-depth work in the classroom and lab and then complete their training at a hands-on, real world externship where they work closely with a dentist to treat real patients. |
